While we do everything we can on our end, we always think it’s a good idea to give our brides a few tips to make things easier on them during the appointment as well. Below, read our must-know tips for brides beginning their wedding dress shopping journey:
Know Your Venue
One of the most important steps in planning, we recommend waiting to start shopping for your dress until you’ve already selected a venue. Knowing your venue gives you a better idea of what your wedding day will look like—you’ll have a good picture in your mind of what you’ll be surrounded by, and you’ll know what season to plan for (especially important if your wedding is outdoors!).
Have a Budget
Settle on the budget for your wedding dress before your appointment. Letting your stylist know your budget allows her to never pull you a dress out of your price range, so that you don’t have to worry about falling in love with a dress that will give you sticker shock. This helps you be more relaxed during your appointment, and allows you to focus completely on finding your perfect dress. Our advice when settling on your budget? Remember that you’ll need to factor in part of your budget for accessories; after all, your wedding day look is more than just the dress!
Don’t Procrastinate!
While it may be shocking, you’ll need anywhere from 8-12 months to purchase a wedding dress. This is so that you have enough time for the designer to construct your dress and ship it on time with a few weeks to spare for alterations. Typically, you’ll want at least six months for your dress to arrive, and another two to alter it to fit you just right.
Keep Guests Low
Every bride wants a few trusted second opinions at her appointment. Having a few voices there to confirm your choice is perfect, and lets you share your joy of finding the dress with those you love most. However, too many second opinions can drown out your own, which makes your appointment stressful rather than joyful. We also recommend keeping guests low for comfort—we can only seat up to four guests in the boutique comfortably, and you all want to be relaxed so your experience is fun!
