A little over a year after Crystal and Jonathan met for their first date, Jonathan surprised Crystal with a weekend trip to his parent’s mountain house in Bakersfield, NC. Unbeknownst to Crystal, Jonathan had one more surprise up his sleeve for her birthday. While she believed his Go Pro was snapping photos of the fall foliage, it was actually capturing the entire proposal! Overlooking the Appalachian Mountain range during peak season, Crystal said “yes” to the man of her dreams, whom she met online only a year prior.
Surrounded by family and friends to share their love, the teacher and firefighter wed on August 5th, 2017 at The Gingerbread Meeting House in Crystal’s hometown of Shelby, NC. Crystal walked down the aisle in a gorgeous Mori Lee soft tulle gown adorned with scalloped lace edging. The Poffie Bride had custom alterations made to her gown, going from thin straps to strapless. They enjoyed their first dance to Brett Young’s “In Case You Didn’t Know” and continued to celebrate into the night with their loved ones. Crystal and Jonathan began their new life as a married couple by relaxing on the shores of the Sandals Regency La Toc in St. Lucia.
The couple’s favorite date night consists of ordering Chinese take out, opening a bottle of wine, and watching a movie or television to unwind.
Crystal’s advice to brides to be is to take the help offered to you from your family and friends and to try to knock out things at the beginning of your engagement to ensure smooth sailing until the wedding. Her advice to grooms to be is to be helpful when asked your opinion even if you are not into the whole planning process.
Congratulations to Crystal and Jonathan!
