Elizabeth & Chris

Wedding Date: July 16, 2011

Wedding Location: Charleston, SC.  St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church and reception at Old Exchange Building.

How they met: Living in the same freshman dorm at the University of Arkansas, had the same group of mutual friends, but never really hung out or dated. After graduation, Chris moved out to Charlotte for a job with Wachovia, and Elizabeth moved to St. Louis for grad school, then New York City for a job at an engineering firm, and then eventually to Charlotte too. Days after moving to Charlotte, Elizabeth contacted the Arkansas Alumni Chapter so she could meet people who had a common interest. Immediately got receive e-mail from Chris, who is a board member with the chapter, inviting her out for coffee to catch up on the last few years. They ended up having dinner, drinks, and dessert at the Melting Pot, and eight months later got engaged on Folly Beach in South Carolina.

Describe your experience with Poffie Girls:

“My mom and I first visited Poffie Girls about a year before my wedding, and the consultant showed me three ivory dresses, all of which I loved. I couldn’t decide which one I liked best,so I asked my dad to return to the store with my mom and me a few weeks later. I tried all three on for him to see, and he told me which one was his favorite. He’s my fashion consultant, so I was ready to go with his first choice, which was a very simple halter dress with a short train. At that point, my fiancé Chris had decided to wear a white suit to our wedding, so I wanted to be sure to get a white dress that would match the color of his suit. My dad asked Poffie Girls if they had the dress we’d chosen in white instead of ivory, and the consultant said that although she didn’t have the chosen dress in white, she had another dress by the same designer in white, so I agreed to try that on, just to get a feel for the color. When she came out of the back with the white dress, I couldn’t help but think that it was so much different than my chosen dress – it was strapless, had crystals and pearls in intricate patterns, and had a  long train – so I wondered why the stylist had brought this one out for me to try on. But when I tried the dress on,  it was perfect. And I ended up buying it – it was THE dress.”
