Aisha and Arlie’s Wedding

Wedding Date:  Saturday, June 18, 2011

Wedding location: Raleigh, NC.  The wedding was held at Jones Chapel at Meredith Chapel Raleigh, NC and the reception was held at the Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner, NC

How did your husband propose?  It was New Year’s Eve 2009 (bringing in 2010) and we went to church for the watch night service as usual.  After service we went to Carolina Ale House (place of our first date) for dinner, I was a little surprised at Arlie’s choice for dinner, since his mom and sister were with us, but I put it aside.  We were seated at our table, ordered our food, and were partying to the New Year’s Day celebration of music that the DJ was rockin’.  The next thing I know, the DJ calls, “Arlie and Aisha we need you on the dance floor” - I know I was not hearing right I said to myself.  Then the DJ calls again, “Arlie and Aisha we need you on the dance floor.”  Arlie bolts up from the table and to the DJ booth and I go running behind him.  By the time I get to the dance floor, Arlie has the microphone in his hand, I am speechless and wondering what is going on. Arlie begins to speak, but I cannot hear a word he is saying because he starts feeling around in his pocket – I am starting to freak out now.  He pulls out a box and lowers down to one knee and asks me to marry him.  Tears flood my eyes and all I can do is kiss the top of his head and grab the box from his hand.  Arlie replies, “I’ll take that as a ‘Yes’.”  The crowd rushes us with congratulatory hugs and kisses, the DJ spins Beyonce’s Single Ladies and I kissed Arlie until I could think of something else to do, like put my ring on!  It was beautiful, romantic, and the best public display of affection I have ever experienced.  I feel so lucky and blessed about becoming his wife.  I serve an awesome God, who blessed Arlie and I to find each other and we are both very grateful.

How was your experience with Poffie Girls? I had a great experience with Poffie Girls. We (fiance, stepson, Mother-in-law and Sister-in-Law) drove there from Cary, NC, my fiance and stepson stayed in the car during the visit and as we were parking my fiance (Arlie) said “I think this is the place, Babe.’ I said, ‘You think so?’. He said, I am positive.’ And I replied, ‘Well we will see.’  Elaine was my consultant that day and she was great! She listened to my style ideas and my dressing shopping experience so far and without asking my size, pulled some dresses and led me to the dressing room. All of her selections were pretty dresses, but the third dress I tried on was THE ONE – Mori Lee, Style 2509, Satin-Faced Taffeta with Beaded Lace. I did not want to take it off, we immediately began trying on jewelry and veils to complete my look. BTW, we were in the salon on the day after Thanksgiving (I was in panic mode with the wedding 7 months away) and were the last appointment of the day and Elaine never made us feel rushed. It was a great evening and a wonderful time with my new family!

What did you like most about working with Poffie Girls?  Again, Elaine never made us feel rushed. And I love the ambiance of the salon, it feels like the home of a dressmaker, who has a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure that you make the right choice to make you wedding day even more special.

What was your favorite part of your wedding?

My first dance with my husband. He looked so handsome in his tuxedo and fedora and it complimented my dress so well that I could have danced all night – oops, I think we actually did :)
